In 19th-Century ink-lettered envelope, "Scraps from the funeral car of Mr. Lincoln - April 1865." This envelope was removed from a scrapbook assembled by Green Adams. Born in Barbourville, Kentucky, Adams served as a Federal judge & U.S. Congressman before The Civil War. During The Civil War, Adams supported the Union cause & corresponded with President Lincoln. Three letters from Lincoln to Adams are housed in The Civil War Museum & Library in Philadelphia. A letter outlining this history & provenance is available from Adams's great, great-granddaughter.
